Frequently Asked Questions

Many communities have a local “food pantry,” which is sometimes mistakenly called a “food bank.”

A food pantry’s mission is to directly serve local residents who suffer from hunger and food insecurity in a specific area. A food bank is the storehouse for millions of pounds of food and other products that go out to the community. Food pantries are the arms that reach out communities directly.

With prior arrangement, media are permitted at our headquarters or off-site locations. To respect our volunteers and clients, we ask that no persons be recorded, photographed, or interviewed without their consent through Food Bank communications staff.

Please visit our Facts and Financials page, where you’ll find community impact reports, annual reports, county fact sheets, and compiled service statistics. You can also find helpful information on our advocacy, educational programs, and community partners.
